  Creating a New Info Area

The following subsection contains a detailed description of how to build a new info cube in a new environment.

The Info(rmation) Area can be defined as the application area of Info Objects. Info Objects of an Info Area (e.g. documentation) can be linked and are delivered together.

ADM/Modeling/Info Objects > Info Objects

Hint: When creating a new info cube in an existing environment and/or existing dimension with key figures, the steps definition or creating are not required.

Hint: Once data has been loaded into the structures, major structural changes can only be made by purging data, redefining the structures (e.g., an Info Object) and reloading the data, which in most cases also means to adjust the extraction programmes to produce the data loaded. This constraint is independent of the data warehouse product used. The definition phase depicted in the following sections should therefore be preceded by a careful requirements definition combining performance and sufficient flexibility for additional requirements in the future.
